I have a series of races coming up, starting the last weekend in February. Initially the Cowtown Half Marathon was going to be a goal race for me, but two weeks with the flu threw my training off course. So instead, I am going to run the Cowtown 10k. 10k’s are really good training races for me. They teach me to relax while still putting out a high effort. This prepares me for the longer races. The following weekend I will be competing in the Tyler Fresh 15k in the elite field. This race is exciting, fast, and challenging. World class runners attended this race last year. I placed 12th last year with a time of 1:01:40 (6:36 pace). The climb for this course is between 800-900 ft. Even though Tyler is a small town in East Texas, this event is a well attended, feel good, competitive, and organized event that I am excited to be a part of. The next race is my goal race, the Dallas Rock and Roll Half Marathon on March 19. I have no definite plans after that. I am waiting to hear from the Japan America Society DFW about the Sendai Half Marathon. Each year they chose one female and one male to represent Dallas in the Sendai Half Marathon. If chosen, I will be flying to Sendai in May.
