Tuesday’s A B C Skips

I do ABC skips before hard runs, track workouts, and races.

A Skips

Bring your knee to your chest with a small skip.  Drive your leg straight down, and bring your other knee up to your chest with a small skip.  Let your arms swing naturally, and keep your energy traveling forward.

B Skips

Similar to A Skips but with a kick.  Bring your knee up, and kick your foot out then back around with a small skip.  Bring your other knee up, and kick your foot out then back around with a small skip.  This one takes practice to get the timing down.

C Skips

These are like A Skips except you turn your leg out to the side about 45 degrees.  From the beginning, bring your knee up and out about 45 degrees, drive your leg down with a skip and bring your other knee up to the side, drive back down, etc.

Tips

  • 5-10 minute warm up before skips.
  • Keep your chest up.
  • Look forward.
  • Do each skip for 25-50 meters.
