Average Pace – 8:17/mile

I increased my pace every couple miles, and I felt strong at mile 14.

Total Mileage

67.9

Weather

Hot.  Humid.  Yesterday’s heat index was 107 degrees at 5:00 p.m.

Gear

I ran the majority of my miles in the Altra Escalantes, my new favorite lightweight trainer.  The wider toe box allowed me to grip the ground/shoe like I can with the Vibram Five Fingers.  For most of my long runs, I wear the Vibram Five Fingers or my super lightweight racing flats, and if I am doing a long run in trainers on a treadmill, I usually kick off my shoes halfway through and finish running barefoot.  That said, I was pleasantly surprised when I ran comfortably in my Altra Escalantes for my 14 mile run!

I tried out the On Cloud Racers the previous week, and I liked them but only for 4 mile runs or shorter.  On made some changes to the Cloud Racer, now the Cloud Rush, and I have not tried them out yet.

  1. Keep up the good work!

I know you often run barefoot per your other blogs, but do you run in your running socks or totally barefoot on the treadmill when you kick off your shoes? I often find myself losing my shoes on the treadmill for slower or cool down miles too, but I have to wear socks!

    1. Thanks! I am still surprised that I like them. I have worn super light racing flats for awhile now for racing and most of training. I’ve put the skateboard away for now with the higher miles! Lol. Not worth the risk. My kids are still at it though!
