Prerace Workout and A Change of Plans

Today’s pre-race workout called for a tempo run and some speed work.  After my 2 mile warm up, strides, and drills, I ran my 3 mile tempo @ 6:45-6:55 pace.  The carpool line messed up my pace for one portion of the run, but I managed to finish in 20:46.  After a two minute recovery, I ran 4 x 200m with 30 seconds rest in between.  I finished with a 2 mile cool down.

I ran in my Mizuno Racing Flats again.  Luckily, my new pairs should be here today.

And the change of plans…

It turns out that the race that I had planned on running this weekend was cancelled, so I am going to run the Tour de Fleurs Quarter Marathon on Saturday instead.  This year is the first year that they will have a Half Marathon and a Quarter Marathon.  In years past, there was a 20k and a 10k.  The course runs along White Rock Lake, and it starts and finishes at the Dallas Arboretum.  I expect it to be fast and flat for the first half, a challenge with hills for the second half, and as always for this event, very competitive!

    1. I went back and forth between the Roller Coaster 10k and the Quarter Marathon so it was easy to fall back on.
      And there is no way I will race in those. This is actually the first time I have ever timed new shoes coming in the mail and a race just right! lol
